Red Rock Entertainment are proud sponsors of Signature pictures. Signature Pictures is a social enterprise production company, partnered with Jobcentre Plus, providing training and work experience opportunities to unemployed young people in every department of its corporate & creative film productions.
Signature Pictures gave the opportunity for 10 young people from Peterborough to work on the set of “Terry and Tiara.” One of the youths Lewis Tappenden spoke about his experience on set and how grateful he was to Signature pictures for providing him with such a unique experience.
“I found the Signature Pictures Trainee programme through the jobcentre after having been unemployed for seven months. I had pretty much given up looking for any creative opportunities near me as there just didn’t seem to be anything, but I’m so pleased my work coach recommended this to me.
Working with Signature Pictures on Terry and Tiara was an incredible experience which I feel has taught me so much about the filmmaking process and inspired me to keep looking for further opportunities. The people I met were all brilliant and we really bonded over our two weeks together. I hope I get to work with them all again soon. I think this traineeship has given me a lot of great contacts within the industry, as well as other people around me who are all starting their careers at the same level as I am.”
“The guys from Signature Pictures were fantastic, letting me get involved with every aspect of the filmmaking process. I built sets and props, helped plan the shooting schedule, assisted with the camera and lighting set ups and even controlled the marionettes. Everyone was happy to explain anything which was new to me and talked me through all of the processes and techniques employed throughout production of Terry and Tiara. I really feel as though I have learnt so much and gained so many new skills in the short time we were making this film. The whole experience really let me get stuck into the kind of work I am passionate about, but have been unable to get involved with beforehand. The fact Signature Pictures came to a city like Peterborough, where there isn’t much chance to get involved in filmmaking, and let a large group come and help with this project gave people like me the chance to actually experience the process firsthand in a way that I wouldn’t have been able to before.
As well as all the skills I have learnt whilst making this film the traineeship has increased my confidence in myself and helped me realise that there are opportunities out there to help people gain the experience and contacts they need to succeed in a creative industry. To anyone who is considering applying for a traineeship with Signature Picture; I would say go for it. You will have the best time and learn so much. It has genuinely been one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. And finally I’d like to thank Signature Pictures for giving me the opportunity to work on this project. I can’t wait to see the finished film, and I hope to work with you all again!”
